7 Golden Rules for Seed Phrase Protection
Simple steps that save your assets from theft, loss, and leaks.
1. Store Offline
Write it on paper or engrave on metal (Cryptosteel, Billfodl). Digital copies are forbidden.
2. Never Take Photos
Photos in the gallery = sync with iCloud/Google Photos = leak risk. Even deleted photos can remain in the cloud.
3. Split into Parts
24 words → 3 parts of 8. Store in different secure locations. Even if one part is stolen, assets remain safe.
4. Use a Hardware Wallet
Ledger, Trezor, BitBox — the seed phrase is generated and stored inside the device. It never leaves the chip.
5. Verify the URL
Download wallets only from official websites. Check HTTPS, domain, and bookmarks. Phishing starts with a fake site.
6. Never Trust “Support”
Real services NEVER ask for your seed phrase. Support, Telegram, email — all are social engineering.
7. Test Recovery
Every 3–6 months verify: can you restore the wallet from backup? This catches errors early.
Seed phrase = private key = all your money.
One leak — and everything is lost forever.
